Medical imaging (radiography), has made great strides since the discovery of x-rays in 1895. Radiologic Technology is a health occupation that has been rated among the top employment opportunities for the next several years. Subspecialties include diagnostic imaging (radiologic technology), diagnostic medical sonography (ultrasound), nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography and radiation therapy (radiation oncology). Numerous job opportunities are available in the scope of radiologic technology through the quality education provided by St. Anthony Central Hospital and St. Anthony North Hospital.

Programs in radiologic sciences at St. Anthony Hospitals begin each fall semester (September). They are continuous for 23.5 months.

The School of Radiologic Sciences at St. Anthony Hospitals was established in 1929. The programs under the School of Radiologic Sciences are recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the program which allows the student to sit for the national registry examination in radiography administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Because of the challenging level of academic standards in all facets of the School of Radiologic Sciences, St. Anthony Hospitals have earned a long-standing reputation of graduating competent professionals in the field of radiology. The curriculum in all programs requires a high degree of stamina and motivation. Good health with intellectual and emotional maturity is needed to succeed within these programs.

Skills are applied to actual patient examinations in the clinical environment for most programs. Students are scheduled up to 35 hours each week in classroom, clinical experience, or both, with some weekend, evening, night and holiday rotations required for the program. Students are assigned to clinical rotations at St. Anthony Central Hospital and St. Anthony North Hospital throughout the two-year program in radiography. Adequate means of transportation is the responsibility of the student in fulfilling attendance requirements. During the last year of the radiography program, the student may choose a two-week rotation in any of the modalities in radiology.
